“Green Taxation: The Portuguese Context since the 2014 Reform” In the current context, one cannot deny the essentiality and relevance of the Right to the Environment and the various issues related to it, especially by the emergence of climate change that occurred at a global level. In this context, Tax Law has been considered as an appropriate and qualified mean to promote and safeguard the environment through the adoption of legislative measures that pursue, in the language of the most popular doctrine among us, "extrafiscal purposes". The Green Taxation Reform, dated 2014, is assumed as the proposition to the development of fiscal policy oriented to environmental protection in the Portuguese Legal Order, constituting the first major step towards obtaining the triple dividend and, therefore, the commitment to green growth. Nevertheless, while at the international level the theme of green taxation is widely diffused and explored, in Portugal, there remains a considerable path to be pursued, particularly at the doctrinal and jurisprudential level, without prejudice to the work already undertaken thus far.
