Políticas de responsabilidade social : um estudo de caso no sector das águas em Portugal

Abstract

O tema da Responsabilidade Social é cada vez mais um tema presente nas organizações actuais, estas estão interessadas em utilizar os recursos existentes no meio ambiente, mas ao mesmo tempo não querem que estes mesmos recursos se tornem inexistentes ou escassos. Actualmente a responsabilidade social das empresas faz parte das preocupações da comunidade em geral. O seguinte estudo de caso incide numa investigação sobre a preocupação de um grande grupo ligado à gestão e tratamento de água em Portugal, o Grupo Águas de Portugal. Para ajudar na elaboração deste estudo foi realizada uma anteriormente uma revisão bibliográfica para abranger determinados temas em torno do tema de pesquisa, para entender melhor como o grupo vê este recurso e de que forma o protege foi feito o seguinte estudo de caso, com entrevistas aos principais responsáveis pelas áreas consideradas chave dentro da organização. O intuito era entender a visão comum do grupo sobre o tema uma vez que estes intervenientes representavam entre eles o grupo todo. Os resultados deste estudo mostram que as práticas de responsabilidade social são uma preocupação comum não só do departamento de Responsabilidade Social, mas de todos os departamentos. Os intervenientes mostraram que esta preocupação não é um assunto apenas a nível superior mas todos estão envolvidos e preocupados em incorporar a RS como algo natural e não obrigatório, pois se existir o forte compromisso ético que tem para com os recursos naturais estão a preservar um bem natural comum a todos e ao mesmo tempo assegurar os locais de trabalho no futuro. O grupo Águas de Portugal e a empresa Águas do norte inserida dentro do mesmo, transmitem o que de melhor faz ao nível de práticas sustentáveis no sector, e isso é uma forma que tem de mostrar o compromisso que tem ao utilizar os recursos naturais e explicar à população o seu emprenho em melhorar a qualidade de vida das populações sem colocar em causa as gerações futuras.

Social Responsibility is an increasingly important topic in today's organisations. They are interested in using existing resources, but at the same time do not want these same resources to become diminished. Hence, Corporate Social Responsibility is currently a concern of the wider community. This case study focuses on investigating the strategy of a large group in the area of water management and treatment in Portugal, the Águas de Portugal Group. To assist conducting this study a literature review was carried out. In order to better understand how the case study organisation views natural resources and how it protects them, interviews with key stakeholders in key areas within the organisation were conducted. The intention was to understand the common vision of the case study organisation regarding the corporate responsibility policies. The results of this study show that social responsibility practices are a common concern not only of the responsible department, but instead it is relevant for all departments. The stakeholders have shown that this concern is not only a matter at the higher level of the organisation, but everyone is involved and concerned about incorporating corporate responsibility as something natural and not mandatory because if there is a strong ethical commitment to natural resources, they are preserving a common good for all and at the same time ensure the sustainability of the business. The Águas de Portugal group and the company Águas do Norte inserted within it, transmit the best that it does to the level of sustainable practices in the sector, and this is a way that has to show the commitment that it has when using natural resources and explain to the community their committed to improving the quality of life of the population without undermining the welfare of future generations.
