This article presents the research project “Radical Social Work in the UK: the historical-critical foundations of contemporary British social work” and the investigation's preliminary results, focusing on processes of continuity and rupture regarding the radical social work of the 1970s. The methodology involves a systematic literature review, an analysis of historical periodicals such as the journal Case Con, and the mapping of current social movements and struggles, such as the Social Work Action Network (SWAN). It highlights the revival of the critical perspective in response to the 2008 capital crisis and the rise of managerialism in social work. Partial results underscore the vital connection between social workers and progressive social struggles in strengthening the historical-critical perspective.
