As fórmulas na Arquitetura : atas do VI Seminário Internacional de Arquitetura e Matemática

Abstract

"Formulas in Architecture” is the name of the seminars on Architecture and Mathematics that CITAD – Research Center in Territory, Architecture and Design – has been organizing since 2014. The close connection that has always existed between the disciplines of mathematics and of architecture, often translated through geometry, is the fundamental fact that underlies the transformation of continuous infinite space into finite architectural space. Numbers, created by reason, have served, and continue to serve Man in his integration, development and the use of the natural environment that he has occupied to live there. The quantification of space and all that exists in it, is a way to make comprehensible and accessible on a human scale this once intangible world, opening up the possibility of dominance and transformation, in a dialectical action of constant adaptation. The main purpose of these seminars is to explore the relationships between the disciplines of architecture and mathematics. Knowing that the synergy between areas of knowledge can contribute to their mutual evolution, and to the creation of new ideas and a better capability for a balanced development of the world in which we live, intervene and transform.

“As fórmulas na Arquitetura” é o nome atribuído a uma série de seminários organizados desde 2014 pelo CITAD – Centro de Investigação em Território, Arquitetura e Design – que explora as interseções entre Arquitetura e Matemática. A conexão profunda entre essas duas disciplinas, frequentemente mediada pela geometria, é o princípio central que sustenta a transformação do espaço. Os números, frutos da razão, sempre serviram e continuam a servir o ser humano na sua interação com o ambiente natural, ajudando-o a integrá-lo, desenvolvê-lo e utilizá-lo para viver. A quantificação do espaço e de tudo o que nele existe torna o mundo, outrora intangível, compreensível e acessível à escala humana. Essa medição abre caminho para o domínio e a transformação do ambiente, num processo de adaptação permanente. O principal objetivo dos seminários é explorar as relações entre a arquitetura e a matemática, conscientes de que a sinergia entre diferentes áreas do conhecimento pode impulsionar a evolução mútua, fomentar novas ideias e contribuir para um desenvolvimento mais equilibrado do mundo que habitamos, transformamos e influenciamos.
