With this dissertation, we intend to study how interior architecture influences our spatial perception, from functionality and comfort to emotional impact, addressing the interaction between form, structure and aesthetics. In particular, I highlight the relevance of historical movements, such as the Bauhaus, a school of design and architecture that, founded by Walter Gropius in 1919, brought principles such as functionality, simplicity and beauty, revolutionizing design by integrating art, technology and industry. In this context, the research also highlights the fundamental role of women in architecture and interior design, with emphasis on the Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti. Known for her innovative style and her resilience in a predominantly male field, Aulenti contributed to landmark works such as the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and Palazzo Grassi in Venice. Aulenti's legacy represents the fight for gender equality in architecture, especially at a time when the female presence was often marginalized. Through the analysis of her work, as well as the barriers and achievements of women in the 20th century, I bring a perspective that reinforces the importance of female valorization in this field and the transformative impact of her projects. Therefore, this study seeks not only to explore how interior design can profoundly change the experience of a space, but also to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable vision of architecture and design. |
