A modernidade das formas tradicionais

Abstract

O antagonismo entre a tradição e a inovação fundamenta-se nas suas essenciais diferenças e nas suas oposições - divergências e convergências - isto é, “antes-depois”, passado/presente/futuro”, “passageiro/permanente”, “imutável/mutável”. Num contexto paradoxal entre a Eternidade (permanentemente infinito) e o Temporal (efémero/transitório). A aproximação ao binómio tradição e inovação, como leitura das temporalidades da arquitectura, permitiu-nos exercitar a compreensão sobre as experiências arquitectónicas ao longo da sua história, quer através dos estilos que as caracterizou, quer das circunstâncias culturais associadas ao factor temporal que as fizeram perdurar. Em cada época, etapa temporal, introduzem-se novos gestos, ovas representações, novos conceitos e novos propósitos que originam mutações diversas que vão originar novos períodos da história. Para Fernando Távora o Tempo na Arquitectura é um factor fundamental e não encarado somente como dimensão da observação mas também como dimensão da própria obra. Nós atuamos no espaço, mas o tempo atua em nós e nas coisas que criamos.
