Arquitectura do silêncio : a (in)temporalidade do objecto

Abstract

O arquitecto deve ser responsável. Numa era em que o homem vê a sua posição cultural no mundo de uma maneira diferente, por entre mecanismos democráticos e de mediatização, urge uma consciencialização da veracidade dessa mesma posição do indivíduo. Se um dado sistema social sucumbe à pressão da finança, mercantilizando a própria arte enquanto bem de consumo, que espécie de confiança pode a arte inspirar junto do público, no que toca ao seu papel de reflexo e proposta? O arquitecto é responsável. Quando a arquitectura - enquanto forma artística que dialoga quer com os poderes instituídos, quer com a generalidade da sociedade - se entrega à alienação do seu papel social e se limita a patrocinar o sistema vigente sem questionar, embriagada por conquistas tecnológicas e hipérboles meramente visuais e facilmente comercializáveis, toda a sua produção cultural irá provocar um reforço e até uma exacerbação do sistema, sem fomentar o processo evolutivo do mesmo. Interessa aqui, portanto, reafirmar o papel de um conceito cada vez mais preterido por entre a azáfama dos vendedores: a espiritualidade humana. A noção do sagrado deve encontrar o seu lugar na morada de todos, livre da institucionalização para que toque todos os homens, como forma de realojar a existência. Sendo a construção dessa existência um acto do indivíduo, o arquitecto é sempre responsável pelo impacto da sua obra a todos os níveis, mesmo quando se iliba dos usos que ela possa ter, perante todos os indivíduos. Todavia, nunca será o arquitecto capaz de antever todas as consequências das suas escolhas mas, ainda assim, é sua obrigação escolher sabiamente, com critérios éticos inabaláveis, compreendendo o lugar em que se insere. O arquitecto constitui, então, um veículo de mensagens que formatam o mundo de determinada maneira e deve, por isso, relembrar-se dessa responsabilidade e contemplar o seu exercício de uma forma consequente e em reacção àquilo que encontra de negativo no que o rodeia. Se uma obra de arte, neste caso de arquitectura, exprime o seu tempo e o seu lugar e, simultaneamente, os marca para a posteridade, o arquitecto de hoje tem de retirar-se do seu enfatuado umbigo e assumir a pressão que lhe cai nos ombros. Deve ouvir o que o mundo lhe comunica de modo a responder-lhe. Deverá, porventura, silenciar-se. É preciso silêncio para se ouvir com atenção.

The architect must be responsible. In an era in which man sees his cultural position in the world in a different way, through democratic mechanisms and mediation, urges an awareness of the truth of that individual's position. If a given social system succumbs to the pressure of finance, commodifying art itself while consumer good, that kind of confidence can inspire art with the public, with regard to its role of reflection and proposal? The architect is responsible. When architecture - while art form that wants dialogue with the powers that be, or with the general society - is delivered to the disposal of its social role and merely sponsoring the current system without questioning, intoxicated by technological achievements and purely visual hyperbole and readily marketable, all its cultural production will lead to a strengthening and an exacerbation of the system, without fostering the same evolutionary process. Interest here, therefore, reaffirm the role of a concept increasingly deprecated amid the bustle of vendors: human spirituality. The notion of the sacred must find its place in the abode of all, free from institutionalization to touch all men, as a way to rehouse existence. Since the construction of such an act of individual existence, the architect is always responsible for the impact of their work at all levels, even when released by the uses to which it may have, to all the individuals. However, the architect will never be able to foresee all the consequences of their choices but still, it is your duty to choose wisely, with unwavering ethical criteria, including the place in which it operates. The architect is then a vehicle for messages that shape the world in a certain way and should therefore be borne in mind that responsibility and contemplate his pursuit of a consistently and in reaction to what is in the negative that surrounds him. If a work of art, in this case of architecture, expresses its time and place and simultaneously the mark for posterity, the architect today has to withdraw from his navel complacent and take the pressure that falls on the shoulders . You should hear what the world communicates it to reply to you. It should perhaps be mute. You need silence to listen carefully.
