Arquitectura no Algarve : um olhar transversal sobre a diversidade e um pressuposto de futuro

Abstract

A presente dissertação emerge da vontade de analisar a diversidade cultural e arquitectónica da região algarvia. Para isso, ir-se-á acompanhar cronologicamente diferentes épocas da sua história, contextualizando-as, chegando à actualidade com a intenção de projectar um futuro. Analisar assim, de um modo breve, os povos anteriores à formação de Portugal que habitaram no Algarve. Prosseguindo ao estudo da arquitectura tradicional, da arquitectura de transição do século XIX-XX, do modernismo e a sua relação com as tradições, do modo como se habita a arquitectura e por fim uma análise perante uma reabilitação de um edifício tradicional algarvio. Esta viagem cronológica teve a sua importância, pois após a sua consciencialização promove um pensamento que visa olhar para um futuro com uma perspectiva distinta. A relação das tradições e as ‘’arquitecturas’’ produzidas na região, permite entender a singularidade e o valor arquitectónico algarvio.

This dissertation emerges from the desire to analyze the cultural and architectural diversity of the Algarve region. For this, it will follow chronologically different periods of its history, contextualizing them, reaching the present time with the intention of projecting a future. To analyze, in a brief way, the peoples before the formation of Portugal that lived in the Algarve. Continuing the study of traditional architecture, transitional architecture of the 19th-20th century, modernism and its relationship with traditions, the way in which architecture is inhabited and, finally, an analysis of the rehabilitation of a traditional building in the Algarve. This chronological journey had its importance, because after its awareness it promotes a thought that aims to look at a future with a different perspective. The relationship of traditions and ‘’architectures’’ produced in the region, allows us to understand the uniqueness and architectural value of the Algarve.
