O lugar como fundamento construtivo

Abstract

Resumo: A presente dissertação pretende contribuir para o pensamento da prática arquitetónica em diálogo com o lugar. A obra de arquitetura, apoiada na ideia do lugar e inspirada pelo Genius Loci, entendida como um conceito físico e fenomenológico, é um gesto fundamental para as intervenções de um arquiteto. Esta investigação desenvolve o conceito de que o primeiro gesto arquitetónico deve ser a compreensão do lugar, a sua identidade, carácter, história e paisagem, que tem sido uma das premissas por parte de arquitetos como Peter Zumthor e Álvaro Siza Vieira. Reconhecendo a importância que o lugar tem para a obra arquitetónica, começamos por estudar o conceito de diferentes autores, para que nos permita perceber e caracterizar as problemáticas que tem ocorrido, procurando dessa forma uma resposta para os diferentes processos a que um projeto de arquitetura possa ter. Para atingir esse objetivo foram estudadas metodologias de forma a produzir arquitetura que crie vínculos com o lugar. O lugar deverá ser compreendido como a base do projeto arquitetónico, tendo em conta as suas diversas características de forma a influenciar positivamente o construído, criando uma relação e um diálogo constante com o existente contribuindo para uma produção arquitetónica que de acordo com a sua localização e finalidade se torne inseparável, única e irrepetível. Assim, pretende-se demonstrar que a arquitetura terá melhor resultado pensada para um determinado espaço, dotando-o de vivências e significado entre o lugar e o construído.

Abstract: This dissertation intends to contribute to the thinking of architectural practice in dialogue with the place. The architectural work, supported by the idea of the place and inspired by Genius Loci, understood as a physical and phenomenological concept, is a fundamental gesture for the interventions of an architect. This investigation develops the concept that the first architectural gesture should be the understanding of the place, its identity, character, history and landscape, which has been one of the premises by architects such as Peter Zumthor and Álvaro Siza Vieira. Recognizing the importance that the place has to architectural work, we began to study the concept of different authors that would allow us to understand and characterize the problems that have occurred, thereby seeking an answer to the different processes that an architectural project may have. To achieve this objective, methodologies were studied in order to produce architecture that creates links with the place. The place should be understood as the basis of the architectural project, taking into account its diverse characteristics, in order to positively influence the built, creating a constant relationship and dialogue with the existing one, contributing to an architectural production that, according to the its location and purpose, become inseparable, unique and unrepeatable. Thus, it is intended to demonstrate that architecture will have a better result designed for a given space, endowing it with experiences and meaning between the place and the built.
