The case of study, Marvão, inevitably led to the approach of "time" in this investigation. The intended is to substantiate our initial perception about the recognition of "timelessness" underlying in the Marvão landscape. The fact that we perceive such evidence symbolizes that they are still visible in the present and its history, the reasons that triggered the esteem for this territory. The characteristics of landscape architecture reveal a place that has functioned as a natural and political "enclave" since distant eras. This aspect, one can consider the starting point of marvão's timelessprocess*. In more detail, it is proved as a collision point between distinct cultures, in other words, it’s at the crossroads of several basic administrative divisions on history. It is a border territory from the Neolithic period to the present day and carries this mark of interstitial space deeply. It is a place that operates as a stage of union of opposites and intensifies the contrast of these bumped dimensions. One can consider a self-sufficient territory, manifesting three landscape units, that verify geological, climatic, faunistic and floristic differences between them, unusual to happen in a small municipality area. Marvão consolidates the image of "meeting" of the various landscape components that express themselves in the county in layers or graduations. The reference element that identifies the municipality in the present is the Marvão mountain with a truncated top and a quartzite crest lined up guards to protect that high ridge at approximately 900 meters of altitude, wavy ground in elliptical/trapezoidal shape that allowed human settlement for refuge and lookout. It is an identifier and striking for the people this steep hill with the village and the fortifications "trapped" because it brings together at one point the opposition forces between nature and man, which emerges in the municipality equally. However, the clash between these two forces is more direct and visible on the hill of Marvão. Specifically the urban cluster is between coordinates. It is in the crevices between crushing sky and the rise of the earth (vertical axis) and between mass and vigorous nature and fragmented nature (horizontal axes).
