Reabilitação de estruturas de madeira na Casa brasileira do séc. XIX : o edifício de Cunhal em Braga

Abstract

A casa brasileira do século XIX faz parte do património que está presente nas nossas cidades. Este tipo de edifícios contêm características particulares e devem ser protegidos. Atualmente, apesar de existirem muitos edifícios a serem reabilitados, assiste-se à degradação de muitos outros com valor, devido à negligência ou ao abandono por parte dos proprietários, e mesmo algumas intervenções feitas levam à descaracterização e à perda dos valores dos edifícios. Por isso, é de grande importância analisar profundamente o edifício a intervir para que isto não aconteça e para que os seus valores arquitetónicos e construtivos sejam protegidos. Perante o cenário atual, a presente dissertação consiste no estudo da história, características e valores destas casas, e o contributo que a determinação de uma metodologia tem para se intervir corretamente neste património. A investigação tem o objetivo de analisar e transmitir a importância de resoluções bem fundamentais para a salvaguarda dos materiais e técnicas construtivas tradicionais e valores arquitetónicos deste património. De maneira a contextualizar e sustentar o tema e para a organização dos conteúdos, faz-se uma abordagem às origens, às características arquitetónicas e construtivas deste tipo de casas, bem como à metodologia de intervenção no património arquitetónico. De seguida, com a seleção dos projectos de referência procura-se recolher conhecimentos que sirvam de base para a proposta. Por fim, é apresentada a proposta de intervenção baseada nos princípios que foram abordados ao longo da dissertação.

The Brazilian house of the nineteenth century is part of the heritage present in our cities. This type of buildings contain particular characteristics and must be protected. Nowadays, there are a lot of buildings to be rehabilitated, but many others are degraded due to neglect or abandonment by the owners, even some of the interventions made lead to the decharacterization and loss of buildings values. Therefore, it is really important to deeply analyze the building to intervene in order to this does not happen and for its architectural and constructive values be protected. Against this background, this dissertation consists on the study of the history, characteristics and values of these houses, and the contribution that the determination of a methodology has to intervene correctly in this heritage. The purpose of the research is to analyze and convey the importance of well-founded resolutions for the safeguarding of traditional building materials and techniques and the architectural values of this heritage. In order to contextualize, sustain the theme and organize the contents, it is made an approach to the origins, architectural and constructive characteristics of this type of houses, as well as the methodology of intervention in the architectural heritage. Then, with the selection of the refrence projects, it is sought to gather knowledge that will serve as a basis for the proposal. Finally, the proposal of the intervention is based on the principles that were addressed throughout the dissertation.
