Abstract

A presente dissertação tem por título "A reabilitação urbana: do quarteirão até ao edifício com valor patrimonial - centro histórico de Braga - rua D. Paio Mendes". Este trabalho tem a intenção de participar na discussão da importância da reabilitação e preservação dos centros históricos, demonstrando os benefícios da requalificação, reabilitação e reutilização do património preexistente nos centros históricos (CH) em detrimento do desenvolvimento da construção nova. O interesse pelo estudo desta temática reside na análise e respectivos diagnósticos do panorama geral do património edificado desde os conjuntos (quarteirão) aos seus elementos (edifícios) com o crescente interesse que esta área de estudo tem tido. A construção da temática sob a qual aqui dissertamos, formulou-se sobre questões do envelhecimento cada vez maior do património edificado e da consequente necessidade de o reabilitar, assim com em torno da questão do envelhecimento das populações residentes nos centros históricos, em particular no Centro Histórico de Braga, e da consequente necessidade de os revitalizar. O nosso plano de ação passa por promover e valorizar a requalificação do "espaço público" do centro histórico de Braga (quarteirão), e em termos restritos, o Projeto de Reabilitação de um edifício habitacional com valor patrimonial. A intervenção proposta assenta na adaptação dos espaços destinada a proporcionar desempenho compatível com as exigências ou condicionalismos atuais, tais como: acessibilidades, serviços básicos, equipamentos, espaços públicos e edificado habitacional, no sentido de melhorar o contexto patrimonial pela reabilitação e o bem-estar dos seus habitantes.

This dissertation focuses on the theme "Urban Rehabilitation: from the block to the building with heritage value - historical center of Braga - Rua D. Paio Mendes". With this work, it was our intentation to participate in the discussion of the importance of the rehabilitation and preservation of historical centers, demonstrating the benefits of reclassification, rehabilitation and reuse of preexisting heritager in historic centers (CH), to the detriment of the development of new construction. The interest in the study of this theme arises from the analysis and respective diagnoses of the general panorama of the heritage built from the buildings (block) to its elements (buildings) with the growing interest that has been verified. The construction of the thematic we are discussing here has been based on issues such as the growing aging of the built heritage and the consequent need to rehabilitate it, as well as on the aging of the population living in historic centers, Particularly in the Historic Center of Braga, and the consequent need to revitalize them. Our most important results were: to promote the valorization and requalification of the "public space" of the CH of Braga (block) and in restricted terms, the Rehabilitation Project of a residential building with a patrimonial value, The proposed intervention is based on the adaptation of spaces designed to provide performance compatible with current requirements or constraints, such as: accessibility, basic services, equipment, public spaces and housing construction, in order to improve the patrimonial context for rehabilitation and well-being of its inhabitants.
