A preservação da memória : reabilitação do teatro Narciso Ferreira

Abstract

Não é de hoje que o estudo da memória no âmbito da arquitectura, desempenha um papel relevante, visto que a memória pode ser entendida como matéria na reabilitação, de modo a se preservar o património natural e construído na ruptura com o passado. Na reabilitação do Património acreditamos que para salvaguardar o mesmo e a sua memória, se deve intervir nos edifícios patrimoniais e não simplesmente os preservar na sua plenitude, para os adaptar aos dias de hoje, tornando-os património vivo, aquele que pode ser vivenciado pelas pessoas e não património escultórico, simplesmente para ser observado. Sob este ponto de vista, surge o âmbito deste trabalho de investigação, onde nos debatemos com a questão de como a prática da arquitectura contemporânea deve ser realizada de modo a se estabelecer um vínculo entre o passado e o presente, respeitando-se aquilo que pré-existe e encontrando-se um lugar para o mesmo nos dias de hoje. Com a realização deste trabalho pretendemos perceber como uma prática de intervenção responsável no construído, garante e é fundamental para se salvaguardar, não só aquilo que é físico, mas também o intangível, como as vivências, os saberes e os costumes, para a nossa geração e para as gerações futuras. Para isso recorremos ao estudo de diferentes autores e à análise a casos de estudo, no âmbito desta temática. Neste sentido, com base na pesquisa e no estudo que realizamos, desenvolvemos a proposta de reabilitação do Teatro Narciso Ferreira, em Riba d’Ave. Suportada por uma análise cuidada ao edifício, com a preocupação em manter as características fundamentais do mesmo, para que este não perca a sua identidade e linguagem e para preservar a memória que lhe está associada, mas ao mesmo tempo inová-lo e adicionar-lhe contemporaneidade.

It is not from these days that the study of memory within the framework of architecture, plays an important role, since memory can be understood as matter in the rehabilitation, in order to preserve the natural heritage and built in the rupture with the past. In the rehabilitation of Heritage we believe that in order to safeguard it and its memory, whether to intervene in heritage buildings and not simply to preserve them in the their fullness, but also to adapt them to the present day, making them living patrimony that can be lived by people and not only sculptural heritage, simply to be observed. From this point of view, the scope of this research work arises, where we discuss the question of how the practice of contemporary architecture should be held in order to establish a link between the past and the present, respecting what already exists and finding a place for it nowadays. With the accomplishment of this work we intend to realize how a practice of responsible intervention in the built, guarantees and also why is fundamental to safeguard, not only what is physical, but also the intangible, such as the experiences, the knowledge and the customs, for our generation and for the future ones. For this, we used the study of different authors and the analysis of case studies, within the scope of this theme. In this sense, based on the research and the study that we carried out, we developed the rehabilitation proposal of the Narciso Ferreira Theater, in Riba d'Ave. Supported by a careful analysis of the building, with the concern to maintain it’s fundamental characteristics, so that it does not lose its identity and language and to preserve the associated memory, but at the same time to innovate and add contemporaneity.
