This dissertation is an analysis of the architectural reuse of the industrial heritage, taking as a case study the Mundet Factory in Seixal. Thus, the bases of the industry architecture are studied, addressing, in general, the history, innovations, interventions and outstanding actors, those that motivated a new way of thinking architecture. Then, for a better understanding of the subject we investigated the values of such architecture, recognizing it as a constituent part of the values of the material and non-material industrial heritage. The concept of industrial archeology and its contributions for the recognition of the values of this heritage are explored, trying to understand what synergies may contribute to the creation of such assessment. We analyze the concept of industrial heritage, the conditions and constraints in its safeguard, looking for the valuation criteria/intervention of this heritage. The purpose of this project is to understand the architectural reuse of this abandoned or ruined building, contributing not only for its safeguard but also for the regeneration of the places where it is inserted, raising new dynamism. Focusing on our case study, we think about "the future of Mundet", gathering its functional history and the interventions suffered since it was first established up to its current state, in a critical way, in order to realize the viability of its architectural/functional reuse at the service of a "new industry", namely tourism.
