O automóvel como elemento activo na arquitectura

Abstract

Na presente dissertação, iremos abordar a relação da arquitectura com o automóvel, analisando o modo como a arquitectura se adaptou e desenvolveu em torno do carro. Também, se procura estudar quais os impactos e influências que este objecto trouxe para a arquitectura, para os arquitectos e para a sociedade, nomeadamente a partir do início do século XX. Começamos por analisar a história do automóvel, o seu surgimento e algumas relações que o influenciaram, tanto a arquitectura como o design. Seguidamente analisamos a relação do automóvel com o homem, tento em conta os factores que influênciam este objecto no dia a dia, e por fim analisamos a arquitectura como gerador de espaços e ambientes para o automóvel, onde há uma procura do desenvolvimento da produção em massa de ambos os objectos. Como objectos de estudo, iremos apresentar três casos, exemplos de uma arquitectura relacionada em torno do automóvel, ou seja, o edifício industrial, o silo automóvel e a habitação particular, são projectos onde os espaços são gerados através de uma arquitectura pensada não só para o uso do ser humano, mas sim como resposta a uma necessidade utilizada pelo homem, o automóvel.

In the following paper, we will approach the relationship between architecture and the automobile, analyzing the way architecture has adapted and developed around the car. Also, it is sought to study what impacts and influences this object has brought to architecture, architects and society, especially from the beginning of the twentieth century. We begin by analyzing the history of the automobile, its emergence and some relationships that influenced it both architecture and design. We then analyze the relation between the car and the man, taking into account the factors that influence this object in the day to day, and finally we analyze the architecture as generator of spaces and environments for the automobile, where there is a demand for the development of mass production of both objects. As objects of study, we will present three cases, examples of a related architecture around the car, that is, as well as the industrial building, the car silo and the private dwelling, are projects where the spaces are generated through an architecture thought not only for the use of the human being, but as a response to a need used by man, the automobile.
