Arquitectura e fotografia, a influência da imagem

Abstract

Interessa-nos no âmbito desta dissertação de mestrado, abordar questões que nos façam reflectir sobre o papel da fotografia enquanto meio de comunicação e compreensão da arquitectura. Em que sentido é que esta é relevante e atribui ao espaço arquitectónico autonomia, tornando-o livre de qualquer idealização, capaz de propor verdades visuais distintas, previamente impostas por um observador. Algumas ideias subjacentes ao tema e consequência da investigação são o impulso para esclarecer algumas premissas e compreender o percurso de diferentes olhares fotográficos. Luís Ferreira Alves, José Manuel Rodrigues e Fernando Guerra, são três olhares distintos, sobre uma mesma obra arquitectónica, a de Álvaro Siza Vieira. De um modo claro, para que exista uma compreensão do Papel da Fotografia no contexto da arquitectura contemporânea, estabelece-se uma reflexão, com base em três ideias que nos parecem ser essenciais ao tema, a representação, a mediatização e a sedução. A fotografia e as imagens de arquitectura, representativas e interpretativas da mesma, apresentam as suas limitações, bem como as suas competências. Como tal, não deixa de se revelar um importante instrumento representativo da arquitectura. O essencial é que a sua utilização seja feita em concordância com o processo arquitectónico.

It is our interest within this masters thesis to discuss the questions that make us think about photography role as a vessel of architecture communication and understanding. In which way is it relevant and does it gives to the architectural space it's own autonomy, making it free of any pre conceived idea, able to propose distinct visual realities, previously stated by an observer. Some topics related to the theme and direct result of the investigation are the urge to enlighten some questions and understand the path of different photographic visions. Luís Ferreira Alves, José Manuel Rodrigues e Fernando Guerra, three different looks, representative of a single architectural language, the one of Álvaro Siza Vieira. In a clear way, for that may be an understanding of Photography's role in the contemporaneous architecture scene, a reflection is established, sustained in three concepts which we believe are essential to the subject: representation, midiatization and seduction. Photography and architectural pictures, as it's representative and interpretative instruments, show their own limitations, as they also show their strengths. Therefore it still is an important representative instrument of architecture. The key is that it's use may be done aligned with the architectural process.
