Da revitalização do campus de Couros à reconversão de edifícios devolutos : a faculdade de artes performativas no antigo teatro Jordão em Guimarães

Abstract

Atualmente assiste-se a uma rápida evolução das tecnologias, e a indústria depara-se com o abandono das suas infraestruturas por não responderem mais às necessidades atuais. Espaços que outrora foram o auge da sociedade industrializada, acabam por agora ser apenas obsoletos, restando somente a sua memória. É nesta preocupação que a presente dissertação incide, albergando assim o tema da revitalização e da reconversão de espaços devolutos, que foram esquecidos com o passar do tempo. Pretende-se dar uma nova vida aos edifícios com valor histórico ou patrimonial, atribuindo-lhes uma nova função, de maneira a integrarem-se de novo na malha urbana e no quotidiano da cidade, que no caso de estudo adotado será Guimarães, exatamente na Zona de Couros, propondo uma nova vida e função para o edifício do Antigo Teatro Jordão. O nosso propósito é dar continuidade à expansão da zona com os pólos universitários, enriquecendo o Campus, preservando sempre a sua identidade, visto que na cidade se verifica um grande crescimento da instalação de instituições relacionadas com a Universidade do Minho em edifícios recuperados, no caso de antigas indústrias, ou edifícios devolutos. Ao abordar o tema em que a dissertação incide, conseguimos perceber que para além do assunto do património e da sua conservação, a matéria acerca da reconversão e da alteração de usos em edifícios devolutos está a alcançar um maior interesse na sociedade, e ficamos satisfeitos por mostrar uma série de benefícios que este método de intervenção nos pode conceder.

Nowadays we are witnessing a fast evolution of technology, and the industry is faced with the desertion of their infrastructures for not responding more to the current needs. Spaces that were once the height of industrialized society, end up being just now obsolete, leaving only his memory. It is this concern that this thesis focuses, admitting the theme of revitalization and reconversion of empty sites that have been forgotten over time. It is intended to give new life to buildings with historic or heritage value, giving them a new function, in order to integrate back into the urban area and city life, in the case of adopted study will be Guimarães, just in Zona de Couros, proposing a new life and function to the Old Theater building Jordão. Our purpose is to continue the expansion of the area with the university centers, enriching the campus, while preserving its identity, since the city has seen a large growth in the installation of institutions related to the University of Minho in restored buildings in the case of old industries, or empty buildings. Approaching the issue in the thesis focuses, we realize that beyond to the heritage of the buildings and its conservation, matter about the conversion and change of use of empty buildings is to achieve a greater interest in society, and were pleased to show a number of benefits that this intervention method can give us.
