Metodologias de intervenção no património arquitectónico: adaptação da Casa dos Varelas a Pousada de Juventude em Pombal

Abstract

O tema abordado nesta dissertação é a Metodologia de Intervenção no Património, como instrumento que contribui para a manutenção de uma memória colectiva, que importa transportar para o futuro. Neste sentido, investiga a questão da reconversão de usos e também as formas de intervenção, como forma de intervir no património construído, proporcionando a reutilização de antigas estruturas edificadas na sociedade atual. O desenvolvimento do trabalho procura perceber o enquadramento histérico-cultural do tema, as formas de intervenção no património, e também quais as teorias associadas ao processo de restauro. Seguidamente, são abordadas as fases de reabilitação, compreendendo os princípios fundamentais, bem como as fases propriamente ditas a desenvolver, nomeadamente fases de diagnóstico, reabilitação e re-uso. Para além disso, são apresentados casos de referência, após uma seleção, conforme a sua importância no que diz respeito ao modo de intervenção; foram realizadas, para cada um dos exemplos, uma análise histórica do edifício, uma descrição da abordagem da intervenção defendida pelo arquiteto e uma breve descrição de edifício já usufruindo da sua nova função. Por fim, no caso de estudo, importou contextualizar a obra no lugar de Pombal, e perceber a sua relação no território de tamanha especificidade, bem como reter e relacionar os atributos fundamentais para o estudo do objeto arquitectónico, ou seja, os valores que se revelaram importantes para a ideia do conceito. Importa realçar que a reabilitação do património existente é a forma de estabelecer a relação entre o passado, o presente e o futuro.

The main topic of this essay is the Methodology of Intervention in Patrimony, as a tool that contributes to the maintenance of a collective memory, which we must carry to the future. Therefore, we investigated the question of reconversion of uses and also the intervention methods, to intervene in built patrimony, providing the reuse of old structures built in modem society. In this essay, we aim to understand the culture-historical context of the theme, the intervention methods in patrimony, and also the theories related to restoration process. Then, we focus on rehabilitation’s stages, understanding their basic principles, and the stages themselves, namely stages of diagnosis, rehabilitation and reuse. Furthermore, we present reference cases, afler a selection based upon their importance in intervention methods; for each ofthese examples were performed a historical analysis of the building, a description of the intervention approach advocated by the architect, and a short description of the building with its new function. Finally, in our case study, we have to contextualize the building in its location, Pombal, understand its relationship with this region of such specificity, and hold and connect its fundamental attributes for the study of the architectonic subject, in other words, the qualities that reveal themselves important to the conceptual idea. We must enhance that the rehabilitation of the pre-existing patrimony is the way to connect the past, the present and the future.
