Estudo da malha urbana da cidade de Vila Real

Abstract

A evolução da malha urbana da cidade de Vila Real é o motivo para o desenvovlimento desta dissertação que envolve a contextualização da cidade, as suas origens, o seu presente e o seu futuro, para melhor se entender um percurso de crescimento urbanístico, que vai do lugar medieval até à cidade do século XXI. O estudo inicia com o enquadramento histórico, seguido da evolução urbana, com apontamentos visuais, através de postais ilustrados. Aborda o programa Polis em termos gerais, fazendo-lhe um enquadramento, referindo os objectivos e princípios orientadores, as componentes e finalmente a execução do programa Polis em Vila Real. No final da investigação comparou-se a cidade do antes e do agora, depois das intervenções do programa polis: as expectativas, as frustações e o que realmente marcou a evolução da cidade com a aplicação deste programa.

The evolution of the urban mesh in the city of Vila Real is the reason for the development of this thesis that involves the context of the city, its origins, its present and its future, to better understand the path of urban grow, tha goes form a medieval place until the twenty-first century city. The study begins with the historical context, followed by the urban development, with visual notes, illustrated by postcards. It refers about the Polis program in general terms, making a first approach, stating the goals and guiding principles, the components and finally the implementation of Polis programme in Vila Real. At the end of the research it was compared the city from before and from now, after the intervention of the programma Polis: the expectations, the frustration and what really marked the evolution of the vity with this programme application.
