Revitalização numa perspetiva de Slow City : núcleo urbano da Póvoa de Varzim

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação é a última etapa do 2º Ciclo, Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura, a apresentar na FAA da ULVN de Famalicão. Na procura de uma solução urbana para a cidade da Póvoa de Varzim, responde-se ao desafio lançado no Mestrado, criando uma proposta que possa responder ao desafio proposto e simultaneamente apresentar-se viável e atual. Um futuro sustentável e amigo do ambiente é o argumento em questão nesta dissertação. Como sustentação ao mesmo, começa-se por analisar o município em questão, perceber sua geografia e história, primeiro no aspeto geral, depois no particular, terminando com uma análise mais incisiva sobre aspetos urbanísticos. A proposta apresentada baseia-se nos movimentos internacionais de slow food e slow city, com os quais se identifica e a partir dos quais se elaboram sugestões para um novo urbanismo na cidade. Integrando nas cidades médias, ideias associadas a estes movimentos, obtém-se uma melhoria de qualidade de vida e gera-se uma nova atratividade para a urbe, diferenciando-a pela qualidade de oferta, assente numa visão modernista assente na tradição. Numa cidade média, com raízes históricas e cultura própria, transporta-se o melhor desse património para atualidade, com um toque de modernidade. A isto associa-se uma forma de viver mais relaxada e centrada no individuo em lugar de numa sociedade urgente e consumista. Fundamenta-se a escolha, analisando a evolução do movimento e estudando casos de referência como Greve in Chianti, Silves e Viana do Castelo, mostrando como a abordagem escolhida é possível e obtém resultados positivos.

This research work is the last stage of the 2nd Cycle, Master in Architecture, to be presented at the FAA ULVN of Famalicão. In looking for an urban solution for the city of Póvoa de Varzim, one answers to the challenge in the Masters Degree, creating a proposal that could respond to the challenge and present simultaneously to be feasible and current. A sustainable and environmentally friendly future is the argument in question in this dissertation. In a way to support this, one starts by analyzing the municipality in question, realize its geography and history, first in the overall look, then in particular, ending with a more incisive analysis on urban aspects. The proposal here presented is based on the international movements of slow food and slow city, with whom they identify and from which to draw up suggestions for a new urbanism in the city. Integrating in medium-sized cities, ideas associated with these movements, one obtains an improvement in quality of life, and a new attractiveness is generated for the metropolis, differentiating it from the provision of quality on a modernist vision based on tradition. In a medium city with historical roots and their own culture, the best of that heritage is transported to present, with a touch of modernity. To this is associated a way to live more relaxed and focused on the individual rather than on an urgent and consumer society. The choice made is based in the study, analyzing the evolution of the movement and studying case studies as Greve in Chianti, Silves and Viana do Castelo, showing how the studied approach is possible and with positive results.
