Características psicométricas da escala de identidade de estudante

Abstract

A identidade desempenha um papel determinante na compreensão do desenvolvimento dos indivíduos e está associada a diferentes resultados em múltiplos domínios de funcionamento. Recentemente, tem aumentado o interesse pela contribuição da identidade para a compreensão para a mudança comportamental. Apesar de ser estudante incluir dimensões tipicamente associadas ao constructo de identidade de papel, não se conhece nenhum trabalho que tenha explorado o constructo da identidade de estudante. A compreensão deste tipo de identidade beneficia da existência de instrumentos com características psicométricas adequadas. O objectivo deste trabalho é descrever o estudo de avaliação das caracteristicas psicométricas da Escala de Identidade de Estudante. Participaram neste estudo 722 alunos dos 3° ciclo e ensino secundário. Os resultados revelam uma estrutura de 4 factores para os 13 itens: Estrutura, Objectivos, Controlo pessoal e Harmonia. Os valores de alpha de Cronbach para as escalas Estrutura, Harmonia e Objectivos são aceitaves (acima de .60). O valor da sub-escala de Controlo Pessoal é dequado o que sugere futuros estudos. Ao nível da correlação com outros constructos a ElE. demonstrou estar correlacionada com o envolvimento escolar. Apesar das potencialidades da E.I.E. para a compreensão do constructo de identidade de estudante, são necessários futuros estudos que contribuam para o desenvolvimento das características psicométricas deste instrumento. Este estudo permitiu concluir que a versão de quatro factores da E.I.E não é adequada para avaliar as dimensões da identidade de estudante.

Identity plays a crucial role in the understanding of individual, development and relates to different results in multiple functioning domains. Recently, the interest on the contributions that identity can give to the understanding of behavioral change has been increased. Being a student includes dimensions typically associated with the construct of role identity. In spite of that, none work that has explored the construct of student identity is known. The understanding of student identity benefits from the existence of instruments with good psychometric properties. The aim this work is to describe the study the Psychometric evaluations proprieties of the Student Identity. This scale was developed to explore the model of Adams Marshal (1996), applied to the student identity. Participated in this study 722 students with mean ages of 14, 21 years old. Results reveal a structure of four factors for the 13 items: Structure, Goals, Personal Control and Harrnony, according to the model Adams Marshal (1996). The values of Cronbachs alpha scales for the Structure, Objectives and Harmony are good. The value of sub-scale personal control is acceptable. The E.I.E. shown to be correlated with the involvement school instrument (in terms of total and sub-scales). Despite of the potential of E.I.E. for the understanding of the student role identity construct, further studies are needed. This study showed that the four-factors of the E.I.E are not adequate to assess the dimensions of student ldentity.
