Personalidade e inteligência em alunos do ensino profissional

Abstract

A investigação tem demonstrado a existência de correlações entre personalidade e inteligência, mas pouco se sabe acerca da relação entre inteligência e o modelo psicobiológico de Robert Cloninger. O objectivo deste estudo foi avaliar a correlação entre inteligência e as dimensões do modelo psicobiológico da personalidade. Participaram no estudo 343 alunos do ensino profissional, com idades compreendidas entre os 15 e os 19 anos (M=17,09, DP=0, 963). Os principais resultados levelaram índices superiores de inteligência nos alunos do ensino regular comparativamente aos alunos do ensino profissional Ao nível da personalidade, as dimensões Persistência (PS) e AutoDirectividade (SD) sao fortes preditores do rendimento académico, também em alunos do ensino profissional. Relativamente a personalidade, a Auto-Directividade (SD) e a Cooperactividade (CO) são duas dimensões que se revelaram estar associadas ao índice de inteligência geral em alunos do ensino profissional. Estes resultados contribuem para a compreensão da especificidade dos alunos do ensino profissional em termos de dimensões de inteligência e personalidade numa perspectiva psicobiológica. Abstract: This research has demonstrated the existence of correlation between personality and intelligence however; we still have much more to learn about relations between intelligence and the dimensions of Robetrt Cloninger's psychobiological model. This study wants to evaluate the correlation between intelligence and the dimensions of the psychobiological personality model. 343 vocational students, aged between 15 and 19 years (M = 17.09, SD = 0.963), participated in this study. The main show higher rate of intelligence in the regular education students compared to students in vocational education. The main results show a higher rate of intelligence in the regular education students compared to students in vocational education. In terms of personality domensions, Persistence (PS) and Self-Directedness (SD) are strong predictors of cademic performance, also in vocational education students. In what concerns personality, both Self-Directedness (SD) and Cooperativeness (CO) are two dimensions that have proven to be associated with the general index of intelligence in vocational education students. These results contribute to the understanding of the specificity of vocational education students in terms of intelligence and personality dimensions in psychobiological perspective.
