The Sete Partidas (Siete Partidas) of Alfonso X of Castile-Leon were one of the main sources of medieval Portuguese law. This article aims to analyse, albeit very briefly, the status quaestionis of the influence that this legislative work had on the Portuguese legal context in the Middle Ages (13th-15th centuries). In addition to a general overview of the main bibliography – from the earliest printed references (17th-19th centuries) to the most recent monographic works (20th-21st centuries) – essential aspects of this monumental legal work are focussed on, namely aspects related to its arrival in Portugal, its translation into the Romance language, its use by the royal power, its practical application in the legal forum of the kingdom and the influence it had on the medieval compilation of Portuguese law - the Ordinances of King Afonso V (Ordenações Afonsinas, 1446). The material remains (codices and fragments) that have survived to the present day will also be updated.
