Serviço social e a relação de cuidado a pessoas idosas : que desafios na liderança de equipas?

Abstract

Os assistentes sociais na administração de serviços humanos dirigidos às pessoas idosas, são influenciados pelas dinâmicas sociais, pelas políticas e pelas organizações. A gestão assume um compromisso com a missão da instituição e com os princípios éticos do Serviço Social, ancorada a uma liderança integrativa e empoderante das pessoas idosas, da equipa e da instituição. Pretende-se neste artigo ampliar o debate, sobre o papel do assistente social enquanto gestor e líder de respostas dirigidas a pessoas idosas no terceiro setor, através da pesquisa documental realizada. O assistente social sempre teve uma ligação com a coordenação, gestão e liderança quer de projetos quer de serviços, sendo a sua prática orientada para a dignidade das pessoas idosas. O papel do assistente social na gestão e liderança de respostas sociais, passa por fomentar e assegurar a humanização dos serviços, a relação de cuidado e a justiça social.

Social workers in the administration of human services for the elderly are influenced by social dynamics, policies and organizations. Management is committed to the institution’s mission, to the ethical principles of Social Work, anchored to an integrative and empowering leadership of the elderly, the team and the institution. The aim of this article is to expand the debate on the role of the social worker as a manager and leader of responses addressed to elderly people in the third sector, through documentary research. The social worker has always had a connection with the coordination, management and leadership of both projects and services, and his practice is oriented towards the dignity of the elderly. The role of the social worker in the management and leadership of social responses, involves promoting and ensuring the humanization of services, the care relationship and social justice.
