Overall the results showed small but significant differences in comic styles and positive and negative affect. As a function of gender H1, the male sex presented higher scores in all the sub-scales of QEH and in positive affection, the female sex presented higher scores in negative affection. In H2 on marital status, comic styles fun, humor and insight were significantly higher in singles than in married and widowed, negative affection was significantly higher in singles than in married and divorced, in H3 on schooling, Participants with higher education showed higher levels of fun, humour, nonsense, insight, irony and positive affection, in H4, there was a weak negative correlation between age and comic styles fun, nonsense, insight, irony and sarcasm. On H5 there was a small positive association between positive affec and comic styles fun, humour, perspicacity nonsense, irony, satire, there was also a weak positive association between negative affect and comic styles nonsense, irony, sarcasm and cynicism. These results suggest that the understanding of comic styles benefits from the understanding of positive and negative affect.
