O contexto na determinação do (re)uso dos conventos : o Convento de São Francisco do Monte

Abstract

A presente dissertação, remete-nos para a compreensão e importância da conservação, como ação de preservação e salvaguarda do Património, para que este não seja esquecido e, consiga assim, adaptar-se às necessidades atuais tal como à comunidade. Como forma de conservar e salvaguardar esse Património, é necessário a compreensão e análise dos contextos em que o edificado se insere, e como este, interfere na atribuição de um novo uso. A compreensão dos contextos onde se inserem os Conventos, e que estes ajudaram a construir, permite entender quais os valores inerentes ao lugar, sendo eles tangíveis e intangíveis. Assim, é possível compreender como podemos transpor os valores do passado para o presente, dando-lhe continuidade para o futuro. É fundamental para a preservação das memórias, dos valores inerente ao local, e das vivências que se encontram na pré-existência, a compreensão de como uma leitura clara e estratigráfica da envolvente, que lhe atribuiu um contexto específico, nos indica qual o uso que deveríamos dar à pré-existência, como forma de incluir todos os valores ali existentes. Desta forma, iremos investigar, a possibilidade de construir metodologias de intervenção, capazes de preservar e transmitir os valores inerentes às pré-existências.

This dissertation brings us to the understanding and importance of conservation, as an action of preservation and safeguarding of Heritage, so that it’s not forgotten, and there for, can be adapt to the current needs as well as the community. As a way to conserve and safeguard this Heritage, it is necessary to understand and analyze the contexts in which this building is inserted, and how it interferes with the attribution of a new use. Understanding the contexts in which the Convents are inserted allows us to understand which values are inherent to the place, which are tangible and intangible. This way, is possible understand how we can transpose the values from the past to the present, giving it continuity for the future. It is fundamental for the preservation of memories, the values inherent to the place, and the experiences that are in the pre-existence, the values inherent to the place, and the experiences that are in the pre-existence, the understanding of how a clear stratigraphic reading of the surroundings, which gave it a spefic context, can indicates us the use that we should give to the pre-existence as a way of including all the values there. We will investigate whether it is possible to construct intervention methodologies capable of preservation the values inherent in pre-existences, this ensuring that the same values are transmitted to the future generations.
