Da conservação à reversibilidade de edifícios industriais : o caso da fábrica do Cavalinho em Guimarães

Abstract

Este documento remete-nos à prática da conservação à reversibilidade pela nreconversão de edifícios industriais devolutos, numa perspetiva de conservação da sua memória e identidade. Para tal, foi imperativo refletir sobre as origens destas preocupações, e que metodologias e critérios deveremos utilizar para que seja possível intervir, e para que possamos voltar a integrar estes edifícios nas cidades contemporâneas. Estas referem-se aos vários tipos de intervenção que é possível aos arquitetos realizar em património edificado e as diferentes condicionantes que deverão ser respeitadas. Assim sendo, é preciso definir uma estratégia para o projeto da reconversão do edifício, sendo o programa uma peça importante, mas não fundamental. Isto é, é necessário construir uma ideia para o futuro para que o edifício se mantenha vivo no tempo, para tal é necessário utilizar técnicas e soluções tendo em vista a reversibilidade da proposta, seja nos materiais, como nas técnicas construtivas a utilizar, o importante é não “prender” o edifício a um uso especifico. Desta forma achamos possível atualizar o edifício para as normas contemporâneas, preservando-o e cumprindo as normas necessárias. Partindo destes pontos, propomos um caso de estudo onde foram explorados os conceitos de reversibilidade e conservação da identidade e memória do edifício, sendo apresentados vários casos de referência que servirão de base para esta proposta. Com esta reconversão criaremos uma simbiose entre a arquitetura contemporânea e a arquitetura industrial do passado, assim como os vestígios da era industrial, que estarão presentes na proposta de forma a lembrar as memórias passadas de uma cidade extremamente ligada à indústria.

This document refers us to the practice conservation and reversibility through the reconversion of empty industrial buildings, in a perspective of preserving their memory and identity. Therefore, it was imperative to reflect on the origins of these concerns, and what methodologies and criteria we should use to be able to intervene, so that we can reintegrate these buildings into contemporary cities. These refer to the various types of intervention that it is possible for architects to perform in architectural heritage and the different constraints that must be respected. Therefore, it is necessary to define a strategy for the project of the reconversion of the building, being the program an important, but not fundamental part. That is, it is necessary to construct an idea for the future so that the building stays alive in time, for this it is necessary to use techniques and solutions in a perspective of the reversibility of the proposal, both in the materials, as in the construction techniques to be used, the important is not to "hold" the building to a specific use. In this way we find it possible to upgrade the building to the contemporary standards, preserving it and fulfilling the necessary norms. Based on these points, we propose a case study where the concepts of reversibility and conservation of the identity and memory of the building were explored, being presented several reference cases that will serve as a basis for this proposal. With this reconversion we will create a symbiosis between the contemporary architecture and the industrial architecture of the past, as well as the vestiges of the industrial era, which will be present in the proposal in order to remember the past memories of a city extremely attached to the industry.
