What teaches us the history of our ideas? That we should change them, says the author. Thus, starting from the analysis of some aspects of the financial crisis of 2008, Ana Paiva writes about the need of an epistemological revision of the social thought. The main idea is the need of creation of a New Sociology based in proven concepts from the neurosciences area – interdisciplinarity – that builds an external objectivity, positivity or proof of facts, through the constant lookout of realism, and not reinforcing the subjective reductionism of the dominant rationalism. The new paradigm searched by Ana Paiva states that reality speaks of itself through human emotion, that automatically transforms itself into feeling and thought by means of actualizing itself in each and every human being, that is, it is the matter that knows itself in the complex form of being human matter. The man knows because he is a conscious matter. Thus, all the reason is also emotion since it’s the emotion that builds and produces it. The author’s objective is to find a balance between the different limited possibilities of knowing the reason of the physical/chemical body’s contingent (that contains in itself material information for its body/possibility of knowledge): I know because the emotion drives me to the conscious world and there the nonabsolute but objectifying abstraction of thought is possible. The epistemological rupture thought after by the author, runs from the possibility of the matter being able to know itself. This is a realism and not a new materialism, since the cognoscente matter is not only matter. We can thus claim that the truth is a conformity to the real and that it reveals itself, partially, through the consciousness that emerges from human beings. It’s not the man that knows but the matter that knows itself when it is human matter. The new sociology would be a critical thinking way, but optimist that it is possible to know, since we are thinking matter; in other words, the matter knows itself, or reveals its truth, in its human matter diversity.pt_PT
