Estudos de validade da versão portuguesa do Inventário de Temperamento e Carácter Júnior (JTCI-Pais)

Abstract

Resumo: O Inventário de Temperamento e Carácter Júnior, versão Pais (JTCI - Pais) é um questionário utilizado internacionalmente, para medir as dimensões de Temperamento e Carácter, baseado no modelo psicobiológico de Cloninger. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar as características psicométricas da versão portuguesa do instrumento (versão heterorrelato) e verificar se existem diferenças significativas ao nível do tipo de respondente. Participaram neste estudo 1676 pais (964 mães e 712 pais) de alunos com idades compreendidas entre os 6 e os 12 os quais frequentavam o 1º e 2º e 3º ciclo do norte de Portugal. Os resultados da presente investigação indicaram equivalência entre a estrutura fatorial teórica e a observada no presente estudo, sugerem ainda que a versão Portuguesa do instrumento apresenta características psicométricas adequadas, apresentando resultados satisfatórios ao nível da validade e fiabilidade. No que respeita às análises relativas ao tipo de respondente não se verificaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas na perceção entre pais e mães. Estes resultados contribuem para o conhecimento acerca dos instrumentos de avaliação da personalidade disponíveis para a população portuguesa.

Abstract: The Junior Temperament and Character Inventory (JTCI – Parent Report) is a questionnaire used internationally to measure the dimensions of Temperament and Character, based on the psychobiological model of Cloninger. The aims of this study were to evaluate the psychometric proprieties of the Portuguese version of the instrument (heterorelate version) and see the existence of significant differences in the type of respondent. Participants in this study were 1676 parents (964 mothers and 712 parents) of students aged 6 to 12 who attended the 1st and 2nd and 3rd cycles of northern Portugal. A total of 1676 parents (964 mothers and 712 fathers) of students aged 6 to 12 years participated in the study. The main results allow us to affirm that the present investigation presents a factorial structure similar Cloninger theory, also suggest that the Portuguese version of the instrument has adequate psychometric characteristics, presenting satisfactory results in terms of validity and reliability. In the analyzes of the type of respondente there were no statistically significant differences in perception between them. This study contributes to the growth of instruments of Personality evaluation in the Portuguese population.
