Repensar o habitar numa sociedade em transformação

Abstract

A sociedade contemporânea assiste a mudanças aceleradas e profundas, ao nível económico, político, social e ideológico. Esta transformação origina novas relações do indivíduo e da sociedade, e consequentemente, influencia a Arquitectura, especialmente no contexto doméstico que é o espaço privilegiado da vida quotidiana e naturalmente o mais exposto a alterações comportamentais. A problemática do habitar, é um tema recorrente na Arquitectura do século XX, sendo fundamental analisar as suas respostas aos diversos desafios da época. Porém, a nossa realidade afasta-se irremediavelmente das certezas da Modernidade e caminha para um paradigma social distinto - a Pós-Modernidade, que vem alterar a resposta arquitectónica e a concepção do habitar. Novos conceitos irrompem de uma sociedade em mutação e são trazidos para o campo da Arquitectura. Conceitos como nomadismo, efemeridade, flexibilidade e low-cost, aplicados á Arquitectura Habitacional, são ainda recentes e opostos aos valores vigentes na construção, que ainda perseguem qualidades como a perenidade e a estabilidade, espelho de uma realidade ultrapassada. Assim, é obrigatório repensar o significado de Habitar e conciliá-lo com o conceito de Habitação – harmonizar as necessidades habitacionais de um Homem novo com uma produção arquitectónica que traduza os valores emergentes.

Abstract: The contemporary society assists rapid and profound changes, in economics, politicals, socials and ideological levels. This transformation leads to new conceptions of individual and society, and therefore influences the architecture, especially in the domestic context that is the privileged space of everyday life and of course the most exposed to behavioural changes. The issue of dwell is a recurring theme in the architecture of the twentieth century, and is imperative to analyze their responses to the various challenges of the time. However, our reality is totally away from the certainties of Modernity and walks to a distinct social paradigm - the Post-Modernity, which consequently alters the response of architecture and conception of the dwelling. New concepts burst from a changing society and are brought to the field of architecture. Concepts such as nomadism, ephemerality, flexibility and low-cost, applied to domestic architecture, are still embryonic and opposed to the prevailing values in the building, still rummaging quality such as durability and stability, a mirror of overcome reality. It is therefore necessary to rethink the meaning of Dwell and reconcile it with the concept of Dwelling – to harmonize the housing needs of a New Man with an architectural production that reflects new emerging values.
