Reabilitação de um equipamento urbano : Teatro Jordão, cidade Guimarães

Abstract

O objetivo primordial do projeto que apresento é explicar e justificar todo o processo que desenvolvo, desde a pesquisa até à proposta final, no que se refere ao tema e local da intervenção. Desde o início de todo o processo, foi importante estabelecer contatos com o local e com a população, tanto com a que ali reside como com aquela que faz uso diário dele. Á posteriori, dentro desta fase de pesquisa, uma análise mais vasta ao território e às suas necessidades, forneceu os dados que faltavam para avançar com a proposta. O local para a implementação surgiu quase de forma natural. O adormecimento periférico da zona histórica e o seu parcial abandono durante a noite foram as premissas necessárias para a escolha. O tema da intervenção surge da conjugação destas duas debilidades ou, por assim dizer, da carência cultural e da falta de dinamismo à volta do centro histórico que potenciaram a ideia de propor algo que colmatasse, de uma só vez, estas duas faltas significativas. Mais objetivamente, para a escolha da intervenção, foi fundamental a existência do teatro de Guimarães. Um edifício de grande importância arquitetónica, histórica e sociocultural. Estas conjeturas tornam este um lugar importante para o dinamismo e a vivência diária da cidade de Guimarães. O presente texto trata-se de um artigo referente a uma intervenção na periferia do centro histórico da cidade de Guimarães. Esta apresenta-se como sendo um grande desafio, uma tentativa real de dinamizar aquela que é uma das mais históricas cidades do país. Uma cidade viva, dinâmica, que está refletida na fiação e tecelagem (algodão, linho), cutelaria, curtumes, quinquilharia e artesanato (ourivesaria, faianças e bordados). Depois de uma análise à cidade, onde recolho uma série de dados importantes para a intervenção, desde valências e debilidades, considero alguns aspetos que deveriam ser valorizados, começando pelo património arquitetónico que a cidade apresenta à volta do centro histórico, que é de facto cativante e merece ser explorado. Seria impensável apostar num crescimento da cidade, sem antes valorizar o seu núcleo. A metodologia a utilizar pondera, objetivamente, os critérios de seleção de obras consideradas relevantes no contexto histórico-cultural da cidade, obras essas que serão pontos de referência num percurso cultural meticulosamente delineado e que circundará todo o centro histórico. O dimensionamento dos espaços, com a observação das tipologias urbanas existentes, a durabilidade, o conforto, a arborização, a iluminação e a continuidade urbana, são elementos fulcrais na nossa intervenção, onde, a partir destes elementos, criaremos pontos de vivência no espaço público, inseridos no mesmo percurso cultural.

The primary objective of the project is to explain and justify the whole process developed from research to our final proposal, with regard to the subject and place of intervention. Since the beginning of the whole process, it was important to establish contacts with the local and the population, both with living on site as with one that makes daily use of it. In the post, within this research phase, a wider analysis of the territory and it’s, needs provided us the data that were missing so we could move forward with the proposal. The place to implement it came almost naturally. The peripheral numbness of the historic area and its virtual abandonment overnight were the assumptions necessary for choice. The intervention arises from the combination of these two weaknesses or, so to speak, cultural deprivation and the lack of dynamism around the historic center boosted our idea of proposing something that bridges, at one time, two significant faults. More to the point, the choice of intervention was essential the existence of the Guimarães Theater. A large building architectural importance, historical and sociocultural. All these conjectures make it an important place for the dynamism and the daily life of the city of Guimarães. This text is an article referring to a statement on the outskirts of the historic city center of Guimarães. With the intervention comes as a great challenge, a real attempt to streamline what is one of the most important historical cities of the country. A living city, its dynamic, which is reflected in the spinning and weaving (cotton, linen), cutlery, leather, hardware and crafts (jewelery, pottery and embroidery). After a review of the city, where it was collected a number of important data for the intervention, since valences and weaknesses, consider some aspects that should be given, starting with the architectural heritage that the city has around the historic center, which is captivating fact and deserves to be explored. It would be unthinkable for us to bet on a growing city without first value your core. The methodology used objectively weighs the works of selection criteria considered relevant in the historical-cultural context of the city, these works that will be landmarks in a meticulously outlined cultural route and that will surround the entire historic center. The design of spaces, with the observation of existing urban typologies, durability, comfort, trees, lighting and urban continuity, are key elements in our intervention, which, from these elements, we create experience points in the public space, inserted into the same cultural route.
