Melgaço e o vinho : reabilitação e ampliação do património arquitectónico da Quinta da Pigarra

Abstract

A arquitectura popular fruto do conhecimento adquirido pelos nossos antepassados através do trabalhar árduo do solo, é essencial para a compreensão das nossas origens, da nossa identidade e para a persistência da nossa história e herança enquanto nação. No concelho de Melgaço, o vinho está incutido no dia-a-dia das suas gentes, nos seus costumes e na sua cultura, pelo que as construções vinícolas ganham extrema importância neste território. Contudo, o abandono destes exemplares arquitectónicos perceptível em todo o território português, é uma realidade que deve ser contrariada, sob pena de perdermos os testemunhos da experiência e conhecimento erudito das gerações passadas. Através de uma metodologia de investigação qualitativa e comparativa, analisamos as construções vinícolas da Vila de Melgaço entre os séculos XVII e XVIII. Apontando para a reabilitação e ampliação da casa de lavoura da Quinta da Pigarra, apresentamos aqui a proposta de intervenção para um Centro de Investigação e Formação Vinícola. Com este estudo ser-nos-á possível demonstrar a importância da integração da obra arquitectónica na paisagem vinícola natural e construída em que se insere, assim como reiterar a urgência em valorizar, salvaguardar e respeitar o património arquitectónico popular português.

Abstract: The popular architecture. fruit of the knowledge acquired by our ancestors through the hard work of the land, is essential for the understanding of our origins, of our identity and the persistence of our history and heritage as a nation. In the territory of Melgaço, wine is instilled in the day-to-day life of its people, its customs and in their culture, so the wineries buildings earn utmost importance in this territory. However, the abandonrnent of these architectural examples noticeable throughout all the Portuguese land, is a reality that must be countered under penalty of losing the erudite testimonies of the experience and knowledge of the past generations. Through a methodology of qualitative and comparative research, we analyze the wineries construction of the Vila de Melgaço between the XVII and XVIII centuries. Aiming to the recovery and expansion of the farmhouse Quinta da Pigarra we present here the intervention proposal for a Centre for Research and Training Winery. With this study we will be able to demonstrate the importance of integrating architectural work in the natural and built vineyard landscape in which it’s inserted, as well as reiterating the urgency in valuing, protecting and respecting the patrirnony of the portuguese popular architectural.
