Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como tema a "Recuperação de edifícios antigos com fachadas em azulejo". O objectivo geral desta dissertação consistiu em estudar a azelujaria de fachada, toda a sua beleza e importância em Portugal, compreendendo o importante desempenho deste material como revestimento de fachada. Não só no que diz respeito ao aspecto visual, à sua durabilidade, ao seu poder decorativo, que torna um edifício com este revestimento único, mas também a todas as suas patologias. A reflexão sobre esta temática teve um estudo profundo por parte de vários teóricos e historiadores, que nos ajudaram em diversas pesquisas. Acreditamos que a azulejaria é um tema extremamente importante e fascinante no nosso país. É uma arte da qual nos podemos e devemos orgulhar e garantir que nenhum outro país a tem igual. O estudo deste tema tornou-se vibrante. O simples passeio pelas cidades e vilas do nosso país tornou-se muito mais interessante. Passámos a ter em atenção pormenores, que antes deste estudo passavam, por vezes, despercebidos. Pudemos passar a apreciar as fachadas azulejares de outro modo. Dar o verdadeiro valor a este quadrado cerâmico, que é procurado por turistas e referenciado como uma arte crucial na nossa história e que tantos portugueses desvalorizam. Portugal tem já o MNA, que é um museu que estuda e defende toda esta temática e a recolha e valorização este quadrado cerâmico, bem como o inventário de todos eles e exposição naquele que foi em tempos o convento Madre Deus. É mais comum encontrarmos este tipo de revestimento nas fachadas dos centros históricos. Acreditamos que o azulejo teve um forte impacto em diversas cidades do nosso país e consideramos urgente a recuperação e reabilitação dos edifícios com este revestimento azulejar, recuperando a vivacidade dos nossos centros históricos. Neste sentido, propusemos a reabilitação de um belíssimo edifício do século XIX com a sua fachada com estas características, - época em que o revestimento azulejar esteve em voga no exterior dos edifícios - no centro histórico de Guimarães, mais precisamente na rua Donães. Devolvendo assim, o brilho que este espaço teve outrora. Procurámos desenvolver este tema de forma progressiva, indo à procura da raiz do mesmo. Para isso, foi desenvolvido um estudo abrangente da história da azulejaria, entre ela, a esperada e brilhante azulejaria de fachada, bem como a análise de todas as suas patologias e métodos de resolução e recuperação das mesmas e todos os benefícios deste revestimento azulejar. Terminámos com a proposta projectual de reabilitação do apaixonante edifício já mencionado em cima, a Casa de Donães, que devolverá à cidade a elegância de um edifício com fachada em azulejo, outrora habitado e lamentavelmente abandonado, deixando o seu interior quase em ruína. Assim, conseguimos ajudar a revitalizar o centro histórico desta cidade, devolvendo-lhe o seu valor patrimonial, histórico, económico e cultural.

This dissertation has as its theme "Recovery of old buildings with tiled facades". We have to keep in mind details, that before this study passed, sometimes unnoticed. We were able to spend enjoying the tiled facades otherwise. Give the true to this square ceramic, which is sought by tourists and referenced as an art role in our history and that so many portuguese people devalue. We believe that the tiled had a strong impact in dufferent cities of our country and we believe the urgent recovery and rehabilitation of buildings with this coating azulejar, retrieving the liveliness of our historic centers. In this sense, we proposed the rehabilitation of a beautiful 19th-century building with its façade with these characteristics, - the time at which the coating azulejar was in vogue in the exterior of buildings - In the historical center of Guimarães, more precisely in the street of Donães.
