Serviço Social na história : exigências e transformações no século XXI

Abstract

O propósito deste texto é abordar o Serviço Social na história inscrito na cena contemporânea, a partir da América Latina, retomando seus antecedentes e memória. Inscrever o Serviço Social nos processos históricos em curso tem em vista, lançar luz sobre transformações operadas na educação, no trabalho e na organização desses profissionais na perspectiva de reforçar vínculos ético-políticos com sujeitos sociais com quem se trabalha em sua unidade de diversidades. O horizonte é a defesa de um projeto de Serviço Social comprometido com a paz, os direitos humanos, a democracia, a justiça social e a preservação do planeta.

The aim of this text is to examine the place of social work in history within the contemporary context, with a focus on Latin America, by revisiting its origins and history. Placing Social Work within the context of ongoing historical processes aims to shed light on the transformations that have taken place in the education, work and organisation of these professionals, with a view to strengthening ethical and political ties with the social subjects with whom they work, in all their diversity. The aim is to champion a vision of Social Work committed to peace, human rights, democracy, social justice and the preservation of the planet.
