Abstract:The recent theoretical interest in volunteering as a way for individuals to express their identity and values and the positive impact that voluntary work can have on the performance of organizations, suggest the need for analysis of existing associations, namely motivation, involvement, satisfaction, the intention to repeat volunteering and the profile of the volunteer; in this specific case, it is analyzed in the context of the Braga Hospital. The phenomenon of volunteering arises as a response from citizenship to the needs of society and to the most disadvantaged groups and also by the satisfaction of doing good, of realizing altruism. This is a task that is characterized by altruism, having no legitimate and justified benefit or gratification, that is, it responds to a real need of the collaboration beneficiary. In general terms, being a volunteer means providing collaboration, with no interest in profit, but for the welfare of another person, or the community or society in general. It is, therefore, a key element in the creation of social capital and the path to integration and better social cohesion. The research methodology adopted was the qualitative approach through the case study, with multiple sources of evidence being used for data triangulation, such as the survey, interviews and participant observation. This triangulation of data was the key to the conclusions of this research, which had three moments: The survey served to measure the connection of the respondents with the hospital volunteering of the institution in question. The questions asked were used to measure the buzzwords of this dissertation's research: motivation, involvement, satisfaction and intention to repeat volunteering. The interviews were also a methodological choice for the collection and help in the analysis of data to allow the consolidation of the study objective. The interviewees have different experiences, both personal and at the level of volunteering. The interviews were conducted by a script previously prepared, where the questions that were important to deepen were asked, since when participant observation was carried out, it was not possible to dwell on them. Finally, the observant participation methodology was carried out, which in my case I was able to study / observe very closely, since I am a collaborator of the institution. This methodology allowed us to validate the motivation involved in this volunteer project at Hospital de Braga. The results of this research revealed differences in the motivations of the volunteer according to their marital status, due to having already volunteered in another organization and because they were participating for the first time in volunteering; motivations are also negatively associated with age and average monthly income; satisfaction revealed to be positively associated with motivation, namely, understanding, reinforcement, career, and motivation in general, as well as the results of participation; the results of participation also revealed that they were positively associated with motivation, namely, understanding, reinforcement, career and motivation in general, as well as the intention to repeat. This set of results confirms that different factors of motivation are associated with different characteristics of the sociodemographic profile, as well as the satisfaction of the volunteer, the results of participation and also the results of participation and the intention to repeat; These results are consistent with the results found by studies in the literature that evaluated these relationshipspt_PT
